Hi there,

I'm planning to move to Moldova, but outside Chisinau, not sure if Balti, Edinet...still researching.

What is the average cost of a good house in cities like Edinet, Balti, Orhei, Rascani, Drochia? What is the quality of these houses and safety?

Is there any kind of condomnium, with only resident entry? What is the best option, block of partaments or detached house?

And without a job at all, how long can I live (alone) with US$ 20,000 in Moldova, paying rental, eating in home, having an normal car?

Cheers

Hi John,

If you are interested i have an apartment for rent in Balti.
Its in a block of apartments on the sixth floor. It consists of a room, kitchen, toilet and a bathroom.
We fixed up the apartment last year.

The price is 200 dollars a month.
If you want it with the furniture 250

If you live a normal life and dont do crazy things you can survive with 500-600 dollars a month. Thats comfortable.

Greetz,

Eric

Hi peloton. When and for how long and for how many people?

Theres a few sites I think you mentioned before with good apartments for 500-900 euro per month.

You could get someone in Chisinau to arrange something cheaper. Check out

http://www.marisha.net
and
http://www.visamoldova.co.uk

Either Marisha (via her friends or family) or Richard (who lives in Chisinau) can help. For a small fee I'm sure they can sort you something out or at least help you.

or

www.makler.md for a list of apartments used by locals.

Then I suggest you look at makler. You can get something for around 200-250 euro per month but its not going to be fully furnitured, ie towels and bedding etc won't be provided. For that price people are looking for you to rent now or long term (ie one year). I suggest you contact Richard or Marisha so they can look for a good deal for you or start calling the appartments listed on makler yourself if you planning on coming soon, otherwise its best to wait nearer the time.

When I was looking last year there were a lot of apartments available straight away. So finding a cheap one in advance maybe hard. You really need to turn up and view the apartment as make a decision. Some places will want 3 months rent in advance. You can get a cheaper price if you pay 6 months or a year all at once or you can pay a bit more (extra 50 euro a month) to rent month by month or every 3 months but it varies. I don't think you can get less then 180 euro, unless you want to share.
